ROD INFORMATION

As most any serious angler would admit, the availability of a true quality fishing rod at your local retailer is almost non-existent. It is our personal goal to offer a reasonably priced, high quality fishing rod that is not available at any local or national retail shop. General consensus says that a fishing rod is a fishing rod. We do not assume this at all. In fact, at Andrews Custom Feather Rods, we know for a certainty that all rod blanks are not alike even when they are the same model from the same manufacturer. We do not mass-produce fishing rods!

Each rod is handcrafted taking on it's own unique qualities. These unique qualities include precise guide selection and placement, location of the effective spine, reel seat placement, static stress distribution testing, balance and more. All rods are truly customized to your fishing wants and needs.

Locking/Blocking Wrap
In an effort to provide our customers with the finest and most durable
fishing rod we can craft, we have started using a new guide wrap for single
footed guides. Single footed guides have always had one major drawback,
pulling out of the wrap. This happens because of catching the guide ring on
a rod locker, rod case/sock, etc. This new guide wrap is the product of Mr.
Rich Forhan and is called the "Forhan Locking Wrap". The guide is wrapped in
the normal fashion to the guide foot. At this point the wrap is alternately
wrapped around the rod blank and the guide foot, locking and blocking the
guide to the rod blank (see photo below). We have tested this wrap on numerous
single footed guides and it is truly foolproof. The only thing we have
managed to accomplish is knock the insert out of some of the guides and bend
the guide foot on the remainder. It is our intention to start wrapping all
single footed guides in this manner unless the customer requests a standard
wrap.
